Wood

circular economy

Our villas are constructed from wood, serving as a long-term carbon storage as they embody the principles of the new circular economy. The treated wood ensures durability in the Caribbean climate, offering a unique blend of sustainable living and enduring elegance.

Wood is inherently a circular material. When sourced from responsibly managed forests, it is an inexhaustible resource. Unlike mineral or fossil-based materials, wood is biodegradable, operating within a closed-loop system.

Furthermore, wood holds high potential for the technical loop. We can use wood with high added value by reusing it or finding alternative purposes. It is lightweight, easily workable, and recyclable without involving polluting processes. Currently, wood constitutes 95% of the available ‘bio-based’ material.

Dutch Caribbean Property utilizes both prefabricated modules and circular, bio-based, and recycled materials. This significantly amplifies the impact of your investment.

Timber modules

Today, construction plays a significant role in contributing to the nitrogen emissions issue. We have to build smarter. One way to do so is by using properly treated prefabricated timber modules, which reduces the impact on the construction site and consequently decreases nitrogen emissions.

Additionally, this method makes construction faster and more efficient. Henry Ford implemented this approach in the automotive industry 100 years ago. Working with prefabricated modules is better for the environment, resulting in a smaller global footprint.

*did you know?

That the production of concrete alone is responsible for 9% of the total global CO2 emissions, and the entire aviation industry for 3 %.
This means we should focus on building with less concrete and with more wood in order to make a difference.
